Care Team Collaboration
Invite family, sitters, and vets to collaborate on your pet's care with shared calendars and automatic updates.
Inviting Team Members
Share your pet's care with anyone who helps look after them. You can invite people two ways:
By link: Generate a shareable invite link and send it via text, email, or any messaging app
By email: Enter their email address directly and MoaTails sends the invite
The recipient creates a free MoaTails account (if they don't have one) and instantly sees your pet's profile. No subscription required for team members.
Your care team members never need to pay for MoaTails! Inviting someone is free, and they get access to everything they need to help care for your pet.
What Team Members Can See
When someone joins your pet's care team, they get access to:
Calendar: View and complete tasks, see what's been done and what's pending
Health data: Weight trends, activity logs, medication history
Documents: View vaccination records, prescriptions, and other files
Activity feed: A running log of who did what and when, so everyone stays informed
Roles and Permissions
MoaTails comes with real roles, not just "admin or viewer." Each role is a preset bundle of permissions you can tune to match how your household actually shares care:
Main Owner: The person who added the pet. Full control, including the only permission nobody else gets: deleting the pet
Owner: Full access for partners and family who share the care equally. Edit the pet's profile, manage the team, create and administer everything. See the Co-Owner Guide
Sitter: Log meals, walks, and meds; see the calendar for the days they're in charge. See the Sitter Guide
Vet: Keep medical records and visits up to date, add medical notes
Trainer / Groomer / Guest: See and log only what you choose. See the Vets & Professionals Guide
If you ever hand a pet over for good (a rehoming, or a relationship change), the Main Owner can use Transfer Ownership to make another Owner the primary owner. That can't be undone, so the app asks you to type the pet's name to confirm.
How Permissions Work
Permissions are organized into categories, and for each category you can grant three levels of access:
View: See events in that category
Create: Add new events
Administer: Edit and delete existing events
Permission categories: Tasks, Vitals (weight, medication, vaccination, water, meals, activity), Appointments, Notes, and Documents.
This means you can give someone view access without letting them create or modify entries. Useful for family members who want to stay informed but don't handle daily care.
Not sure what access to give your pet sitter? Start with the Sitter role as-is: meals, activities, and notes. You can always expand their permissions later if needed.
Team Size Limits
The number of team members per pet depends on your plan:
Free: 3 team members per pet
Plus: 10 team members per pet
Premium: Up to 100 team members per pet
Who Should Be on Your Team?
Think about everyone involved in your pet's daily life:
Partner or household members: Share the daily care load and stay coordinated
Pet sitters: Know exactly what's needed when you're away
Dog walkers: Mark walks complete, log activity, and leave notes
Family members: Grandparents or siblings who help occasionally
Your veterinarian: Access health history before appointments
Always in Sync
Changes sync automatically across the whole team. When your dog walker marks the afternoon walk complete, it shows up in your app moments later. The activity feed keeps a running log so you can always check in on your pet's day.
No more "Did you feed the dog?" texts.
Managing Your Team
You can manage your care team at any time from your pet's profile:
View current members: See everyone who has access, with their roles
Adjust permissions: Change what each team member can do
Remove members: Revoke access instantly if needed
View pending invites: See invites you've sent and ones you've received, with options to resend or revoke
