Sitter Guide

Everything a pet sitter needs to know about joining a MoaTails care team: accepting the invite, what you can see, and how to log the day.

You've Been Invited. Now What?

Someone trusts you with their pet, and instead of three pages of handwritten notes and a hundred texts, they sent you a MoaTails invite. This page is everything you need.

Joining Takes Two Minutes

  1. Open the invite link (or the email invitation)

  2. Create a free MoaTails account if you don't have one. Sitters never pay anything

  3. Accept, and the pet's profile appears in your app

What You Can See and Do

The owner controls exactly what your role includes, so your view depends on what they set up. A typical Sitter setup gives you:

  • The calendar: Every meal, walk, and medication for the day, with times and instructions

  • Quick logging: Mark things done as you do them. The owner sees it update, so they relax instead of texting

  • Notes and health tags: Allergies, quirks ("hides under the bed during thunder"), and emergency info the owner shared

Anything the owner didn't grant simply isn't there, so you can't change something out of scope by accident. Roles and permissions are explained in Care Team Collaboration.

Log as you go! Each tap tells the owner "all good here" without a single text. The best sitter update is the one they didn't have to ask for.

The Day Works Offline Too

Dead spot on the walk? Log it anyway. MoaTails works fully offline and syncs when you're back in coverage.

For Owners Reading This

Setting up a sitter handoff? Invite them a few days early so they can look around, set their role to Sitter (tune permissions if needed), and make sure health tags and notes are current. Your sitter sees the plan, you see the day unfold.
